Andrew Pastula, 89, of Swoyersville, passed away on January 8, 2024 at Country Meadows Nursing and Rehab Center in Bethlehem. Andy recently moved to Bethlehem with Elaine, his wife of 58 years, to live at The Vero at Bethlehem.
Andy was the son of John and Anna (Timko) Pastula and is predeceased by siblings Lillian and John (Jack). In addition to his wife Elaine, he is survived by daughters Gail (Rocco) Musto of Luzerne and Karen (Mike) Pastula Jusinski of Bethlehem, grandchildren Liv and Marc Andrew Jusinski, sister Eleanor, and nieces and nephews.
Andy graduated in 1952 from Swoyersville High School and worked for many years at Nelson Furniture in Kingston. He and Elaine loved to travel and visited 49 states, but never made it to Texas. Andy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting, golf, and he prided himself in a well-maintained lawn and yard.
He frequented PA State Parks with his family all year round. He and Gail enjoyed rounds of golf at Twin Oaks and a memorable round in Hawaii. He bestowed his love of the outdoors to Karen and encouraged his grandchildren to explore nature and outdoor sports. Andy was also a TV sports enthusiast, with his favorites being college basketball, golf, and football.
The funeral will held Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Ltd., 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in Holy Family Parish. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call Thursday 5-7. p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PA Parks and Forest Foundation using the Tribute Form or online at ppff.gives/memorial-gift. His favorite parks were Frances Slocum and Ricketts Glen State Park.
