Angeline M. (Monte) Sigmond Angeline M. (Monte) Sigmond, 93, a resident of Luzerne for most of her life, passed away July 12, 2021, at Mercy Center, Dallas, where she had been a resident for nearly six years. Angeline was born June 1, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late Nazzaro and Leonarda (Potenza) Monte. She graduated from G. A. R. Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of Holy Family Parish Church, Luzerne. Angeline was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren will always remember their lunch dates with her to Burger King on “half days” from school, Christmases with everyone together, and singing outside to her at the Mercy Center during the winter of 2020. Angeline was very proud of her family, and she especially loved hearing stories about her three great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband of 65 years, Edward E. Sigmond, Sr., in 2013; sisters Emanuella Bernardo, Catherine Mullay, Lucy Monte, and Mary Viccica; brothers Nofrio “Sonny” Monte and Joseph Monte; and an infant son. Surviving are daughter Lenora Minetola (John Minetola), Luzerne, and son Edward E. Sigmond, Jr. (Mary Sigmond), Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Melissa Leddy (Stanton Leddy), Joshua Minetola, Jared Minetola, Jenna Minetola, Erick Sigmond (Chelsea Sigmond), Rachael Sigmond and Ethan Sigmond, and their mother, Donna Marie Sigmond; great-grandchildren Grace Leddy, Anna Leddy and Milo Sigmond; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private due to Angeline’s request. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 17, Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi officiating. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Angeline’s family wishes to thank all the dedicated staff at Mercy Center for their excellent and compassionate care, spiritual guidance, and commitment to their residents, especially during the pandemic.
