Barbara A. Peters

Barbara Ann (Yaglowski) Peters, age 75, of Luzerne, peacefully passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Kingston on June 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Florence (Krasniak) Yaglowski. Barbara graduated from Luzerne High School in 1965 then went on to attend and graduate nursing school, earning her LPN license. Following graduation, she was employed by the former Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre as well as the former Nesbitt Memorial Hospital in Kingston, until the birth of her daughter in 1977.

She was an avid animal lover, a phenomenal cook, and enjoyed traveling. Barbara was privileged enough to be able to drive cross country several times over the years with her husband, eventually visiting all 49 continental states. With all of her travel experience, she could always point you in the right direction and tell you the best diners to visit throughout the country.

Barbara was a devoted wife, loving parent, and above all, an outstanding grandmother. Barbara was an excellent listener and had an unselfish, giving nature. Although she had so many beautiful traits, she will best be remembered for her genuine kindness and compassion.

In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Yaglowski, and a brother, Stanley Yaglowski.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Michael G. Peters; daughter, Amy L. Peters, partner Leonard A. Dorrance III; 2 grandchildren, Leonard A. Dorrance IV and Harlow L. Dorrance; and her beloved canines: Coco, Chico and Lola.

Words cannot express how deeply she was loved and how greatly she will be missed. Her memory and spirit will be carried within the hearts of those who loved her.

The funeral will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. from Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Ltd., 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 in Holy Family Parish. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
