Bebiane M Atiyeh , 84, of Sweet Valley passed away on June 1, 2022 with her family by her side after a brief illness. Bebiane Marie Charette was born on May 27,1938 in Maniwaki, Quebec, Canada the daughter of the late Marguette and Adolphe Charette. She was one of 11 children including Augustine, Paulette, Gaetan, Isabelle, Eugene, Henri, Suzanne, Lise , Pierre, and Diane (deceased). Bebe was preceded in death by her late husband, William R. Atiyeh, to whom she was married for 44 years; she was also preceded in death by her daughter Lillian Watson. She is survived by husband, Anthony Kalmanowicz; they resided at Red Rock where they loved to garden and enjoy nature. She took pride in her family, home and her beautiful landscaping projects. Tony and Bebe stood side by side in many projects together. Also surviving are her daughter; Lila G. Nelson (late E. William) The Villages, FL; grandchildren Bryan Nelson (Kristine) Cogan Station, PA; great grandson Zane Keri Carey (Randy) Muncy, great grandsons: Garrison and Sawyer: daughter, Lillian Watson, who passed away on February 2, 2022 and her late husband, Luther Watson; granddaughters; Nicole, Krista, Cortney and Amanda, Shavertown; great granddaughters; Avery and MacKenzie: daughter, Linda A. Monk (Tom) Hunlock Creek; grandchildren Stephen, Linda D. Oliveri (Vinny), Danny, Dennis, and David Monk: son; William A. Atiyeh, and his companion Cathy, Sweet Valley; granddaughters Celanie Benkoski (Gary), Mallery, Plains and Karley, St. Petersburg, FL; great granddaughter; Casey. Step children: Paul Kalmanowicz (Shelly), Kevin Kalmanowicz (Kim), the late Scott Kalmanowicz (Anita), Kristine Schubert (Joe), and Karolyn Myers (Tim). Bebiane was a member and elder of Memorial Presbyterian Church where she raised her children. She was active as a Girl Scout leader for her daughters and helped deliver many boxes of Girl Scout cookies and plan and chaperone trips. Bebiane was like a second mother to a lot of the neighbor kids while raising her own children. She hosted after school sledding and ice skating gatherings as well as weekends at the family cabin in Ricketts Glen. “Sito” enjoyed picking berries and shopping with all of her grandchildren. She participated as an usher for the Kirby center in Wilkes- Barre. Bebiane was a homemaker and also worked in the family business, Atiyeh’s TV and Washer Repair and Bill Atiyeh Motorcycles from 1954 to 1999. She enjoyed traveling to the family cabin along the Desert River in Eagle, Prov of Quebec, Canada. Bebe loved to cook and try new recipes as well as family favorites. She enjoyed animals, the outdoors, and took pride in her gardens as well as fishing and traveling. Bebiane will be sadly missed by her dog “Georgie”. She joked that she was still working and wished to retire one day soon. Bebiane was a sensitive, kind and generous woman and would do anything to help all her children and those she loved. She will be sadly missed by all those that had the privilege of knowing and loving this wonderful strong woman as well as a dear friend to all! Arrangements are being made by: Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne. Private family services will be held with interment in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
