Charles J. Fronczkiewicz

Did you hear the one about a priest, a rabbi and a minister? If you did, you probably heard it from “Charlie,” who was a master at telling a good joke.

Much to our great sadness, Charlie Fronczkiewicz, 74, a lifelong resident of Luzerne, recently passed away, surrounded by the warmth and comfort of his very own “Charlie’s Angels,” his daughter, Sue, and Goddaughter, Amy Fronczkiewicz.

Despite his illnesses and setbacks, Charlie always had a joke ready for his many visitors. He did not spare himself, even telling jokes about his proud Polish heritage.

Charlie was a big, burly guy with a tender heart. He was incredibly kind, gentle, humble, patient, generous, and a loving soul. At his core, he was a true teddy bear (although he would beg to differ). Charlie was also a loyal friend. He would do anything, for anyone, at any time.

Charlie loved taking the girls (daughter, nieces, sister-in-law) fishing, even though he spent most of his time putting the worms on the hook. During his younger years, he enjoyed trudging through the woods in search of the 8-point buck, which he saw many times and finally got one. When he could no longer trek into the woods, Charlie was sought after for his creative culinary meals, serving as the cabin cook. His last and most cherished hunting adventure was with his twin brother, Peter Fronczkiewicz.

Charlie was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served a tour of duty in Germany, after which he was honorably discharged to civilian life.

Charlie was married to Laureen Walsh Fronczkiewicz, his high school sweetheart, also a lifelong resident of Luzerne. He was an adoring Father to his only child, Sue, who was his sidekick, partner in crime, and very best friend. Father and daughter often worked together, as Charlie was much in demand for his superior carpentry skills. He would brag that Sue could hang sheetrock as well as any guy.

A dedicated provider for his family, Charlie had an exceptional work ethic. After twenty years, he retired from SCI Dallas in 2010, but continued to work side jobs until he was no longer able to do so.

Charlie is survived by his loyal and caring wife, Laureen, and devoted daughter, Sue, who lovingly tended to his needs during his years of illness. He will be greatly missed by his brother, John Fronczkiewicz, sister, Bernadine Brown, close friend, James Novak, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends, young and old. His twin brother, Peter, passed away in 2021, one of the few times we saw Charlie cry as we are crying now.

Much love, and may you rest in peace. You will be remembered as one of the very best, Charlie!

The funeral will be held Monday at 9:45 a.m. from Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Ltd., 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:15 a.m. in Holy Family Parish. Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the SCI Dallas Honor Guard.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
