Charles J. Palmentere

Charles (Charlie) Palmentere, 76, of Dallas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at home. He was born November 18, 1946, in Swoyersville and was the son of the late Peter and Josephine Palmentere.

Charlie grew up in Swoyersville, and attended Swoyerville High School. After high school, Charlie had multiple careers including the garment industry, landscaping and window manufacturing. After he retired, Charlie loved caring for and spending time with his niece, the late Candice “Candy” Williams.

He was an animal lover, especially his dogs B.G., Payne, and Kobe. Charlie was a life-long fan of baseball and loved watching and talking about the Philadelphia Phillies. His favorite Saturday activity was watching a Penn State football game. Charlie spent the last 35+ years of his life dedicated to a Twelve Step fellowship.

Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 32 years Donna (Sakowski) Palmentere, stepson Brent Postupak, sister Vivian Williams and niece, Candy.

Charlie is survived by his biological children: Peter and wife Jennifer, Michelle, and Jennifer Oborski; his brother Joseph and wife Nancy; grandsons Jason and Joshua Oborski; nieces Larisa Palmentere and Tara Sears and husband Covar; and nephew Joseph Palmentere Jr. Additionally, Charlie leaves behind his extended family sons, including Thomas McGough and wife Audra, Michael Conti and wife Meghan, and George Visco and fiancé Kyndra Lutz.

Friends and family may call Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Ltd., 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennet Street, Luzerne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his memory.
