Daniel J. Check

Daniel John Check, 57, of Forty-Fort passed away unexpectedly on August 21st, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley with his loving wife by his side. Dan was born at the former Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, on August 14th, 1964. Dan was a 1982 graduate of Wyoming Valley West and attended Wilkes College. He was currently employed by Middleswarth Potato Chips as a delivery driver and was previously employed at Gerrity’s Supermarket, ShopRite, and the Times Leader. Dan married his wife, the former Lisa Peters on October 27th, 2007. Lisa was the love of his life and often referred to her as the Ellie to his Carl from the Disney movie “Up.” They would have celebrated fourteen years of marriage this year. Dan was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and New York Mets fan. He was a former bowler on the Tuesday Night Chargers at Chacko’s Bowling. He was also known for his extensive CD collection coining him the nickname “Dan the CD Man” and his countless bobbleheads and sports memorabilia. In addition to his loving wife, Dan is survived by his daughter Marie Check, parents John and Ellen Check, brother David Check and wife Christine, stepdaughter Kayleigh Edwards and her husband Ken, mother- in-law Margaret Peters, sister-in-law Lori Monka and husband David, and nephew Logan, uncles Larry Check and Ray Horensky, and aunt Emma Horensky, numerous cousins, niece, nephew, and best friends, Joe LaFratte and Brad Adams. Family and friends are invited to attend Dan’s viewing which will be held on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Dan’s name to the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation or the National Blood Clot Alliance.
