David P. McDermott, lovingly known as “Fuzzy,” 62, of Luzerne, passed away late Friday night, September 5, 2025, at Allied North Hampton Nursing Home in Wilkes-Barre.
Born on April 12, 1963, in Wilkes-Barre, David was the son of the late Harold Sr. and Josephine Austra McDermott. He was a lifelong resident of Luzerne and attended St. John Nepomucene School and West Side Career and Technology Center.
David had a big personality and an even bigger heart. In his younger years, he could often be found on the court or field, playing basketball and football with friends or for West Side Tech. As an adult, he continued his love of sports by playing softball recreationally. He was an avid sports fan who carried that same enthusiasm for the game throughout his life. He also loved the freedom of riding motorcycles and had a special appreciation for vintage cars.
Above all, David cherished time with his family. He was proud of his children, David (Dave) and Jessica (Jess) McDermott, who were the greatest joys of his life. His sense of humor, love for a good story, and easygoing nature will be remembered by all who knew him.In addition to his children,
David is survived by his former wife, LeeAnn McCulloch McDermott, all of Forty Fort; as well as his aunt, Ketora, and cousin, Jerry Hann, both of Kingston.
To honor David’s memory, donations may be made to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612, a cause close to his heart.David’s life was filled with laughter, love, and loyalty to those he cared for, and his spirit will live on in the many memories he created with family and friends.
