Edward A. Wasilauski, 86, of Shavertown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday March 3,2023. At the time of his passing, his family was at his side.
He was born on November 28, 1936, in Kingston, a son of the late Anthony and Julia (Zelinsky) Wasilauski. He was a 1954 graduate of Kingston High School. Ed served in the United States Army, military police, at Killeen Base, Fort Hood, Texas, from 1959-1962, during the Vietnam War.
He devoted 26 years of service to the Kingston Police Department, retiring in 1990. Upon retirement, Ed worked at Heffron’s Union Petroleum. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36, the American Legion Post 395, Kingston, and was a member of Holy Family Parish in Luzerne.
Ed adored his family and loved spending time with them, including his dogs and grand dogs. He enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, walking, the outdoors, watching football, Elvis music and going to casinos. He was a man of great honor and had a strong faith. He always put God, country, and family first in his life and never cared about materialistic possessions. Ed believed time with loved ones was priority.
He is survived by his wife, Anna (Novicki) of 56 years; daughters ,Debra and Michele, son in law Robert, grandchildren Taran and Elise; brother Robert and his wife Suzanne, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Edward's name, to police, military or animal organizations.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral mass which will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St Therese Church, Shavertown. Interment with military honors will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 - 11 at the church.
