Shirley

Helen C. (Shirley) Kapral, 90, of Nanticoke passed away on January 19, 2025 at Lakewood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Prior to Lakewood, she was a resident of Edwardsville for 48 years. Shirley was proceeded in death by her parents Joseph and Helen (Busha) Schnappauf of Pringle, husband Raymond M. Kapral, sons Raymond and Bruce, brother Richard Schnappauf (Maryland), sisters Geraldine Schnappauf, Arline Rauscher, and Sylvia Matso.

Shirley was a 1952 graduate of Pringle High School. She worked as a hostess at the Holiday Pancake House in Luzerne and she also worked at her sister Irene's boutique, The Smart and Fancy in the Dundee Plaza in Hanover Township. Shirley's hobbies were anything to do with health and fitness, and she was a firm believer in natural foods for healing. Shirley was also able to play the piano. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, Luzerne, now part of the Holy Family Parish Community.

Shirley is survived by sons Marty (wife Kate) of Dallas, Gary (wife MaryAnn) of Tunkhannock, David of Shavertown, and a daughter Lisa (late Stephen) Rudawski of Nanticoke. She is also survived by her sister, Irene Korey and  numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the funeral Mass which will be held Saturday, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne. Shirley will be laid to rest by private interment with her immediate family at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carverton.
