Jean Nancy Raskiewicz, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, in Bloomsburg, with her family by her side.
Born Nov. 7, 1939, Jean was a daughter of Walter and Jean Snyder. She grew up in Pringle as part of a large and loving family that included 10 brothers and sisters. Jean made her home in Luzerne for over 55 years. Her house was more than just a residence; it was a welcoming haven where the door was always open to family and friends. Jean ensured that everyone felt at home and no one ever left hungry.
A gifted cook with a deep appreciation for her Polish heritage, Jean was especially known for her nut and poppy seed rolls, piggies, potato pancakes, and other traditional recipes. Her kitchen was the heart of her home. Jean's greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
She was the proud mother of nine children and Gigi to 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne.
Funeral services will start at 10 a.m. She will be laid to rest in her family plot next to her husband, John Raskiewicz, in St. Hedwig's Cemetery, Larksville.
