John A. Achuff, 74, of Newberry Estates, Dallas, loving husband, father, and grandfather entered into eternal rest on July 23, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Louis and Marguerite Achuff. He was educated in the Dallas schools and graduated from Dallas High School, Class of 1966. John worked in paint sales for nearly 50 years before his retirement. John and his wife Lucy moved to Pinehurst, North Carolina in 2002 and resided on Pinehurst Number 6 golf course. John enjoyed his game of golf especially with his best friend John Maniskas. He and John spent many great times together. When the US Open was held at Pinehurst Number 2, he enjoyed being a volunteer. After his retirement John and Lucy moved back to Dallas to be closer to family. He adored his children and grand kids and loved spending time with them. Surviving are his wife Lucille (Lucy) of 52 years; daughter Melissa Langton and her husband Ray, Dallas, Texas; son Brian Achuff and his wife Khara, Larksville; grandchildren, Jack and Lily Langton, Konner, Tia, Finn, and Tate Achuff. Also surviving are his beloved sister, Patricia Achuff Pollick and her husband Willie, and their children in California. The family would like to thank the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Oncology Department for their excellent care and support. A private service is being planned for family and close friends at a date to be announced. Though he was ready our hearts were not, a piece of us went with him the day God called him home. Memorial donations can be made to the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of America, scwtca.org.
