Joseph A. Petrasek 92, of Luzerne Pennsylvania passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Maple Ridge Health Care Center in Kingston.
Joseph was born in Luzerne, Pennsylvania on April 10, 1932, son of the late John and Mary Begany Petrasek. He was a graduate of Luzerne High School, class of 1950 and served in the US Army. Joseph was a member of the Korean War Veterans, VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of the North End Slovak Club and was a member of the Holy Family Parish in Luzerne. Joseph was retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Joseph was married to the former Regina (Jean) Laux on November 21, 1953. Jean passed away on April 25, 2011. He was the last surviving member of his siblings, preceding him in death were his brothers John, Albert, Bernard and sister, Dorothy Sheehan.
Joseph is survived by daughter Maureen of Martinsburg, WV, son Joseph (Rosemary) of Martinsburg, WV, son Ronald (Carla) of Garland, TX, grandchildren, Alyssa Braithwaite (Brad), Meredith, John, Julie Melone (Matthew) and Jill, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family would like to thank Maple Ridge Healthcare Center for providing love and care to Joseph in his final days.
Heartfelt thanks to Tiffany Court Assisted Living Center for the past 4 plus years where our dad happily resided with the Tiffany Court “family”.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.at Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Friends and family may visit from 9:00 -10 at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Ltd., 568 Bennett Street Luzerne. Interment will be held at Saints Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Pringle.
