Kathleen Bacumpas

July 31, 1948 — January 19, 2021

Kathleen “Kathy’ Bacumpas, a lifelong resident of Luzerne, passed away on January 18, 2021, the same day that her father, Peter Bacumpas died in 1991. Kathy was a member of the last graduating class of Luzerne High School in 1966. Kathy had a beautiful voice, singing in the choir of Holy Family Parish and served as a lector at Mass. She also volunteered at the church bingo and food kitchen in Wilkes-Barre. A very generous, gregarious and giving woman her home should have been called “Kathy’s Kitchen.” Whatever you wanted, whenever you wanted it, she would make it for you. Kathy loved to take care of God’s little creatures. Her yard was filled with all kind of strays who also enjoyed her cooking. Although a Type 1 diabetic for 56 years, Kathy always thanked God for allowing her to live this long. She was very religious, loving God which devotion sustained her through many surgeries, sicknesses and this last illness. Surprisingly for all her trials and tribulations Kathy was a lot of fun! She was either smiling or laughing most of the time. Surviving are her brother, Michael, niece Lisa, nephew, Peter and too many sad friends to mention. Kathy is also survived by the love of her life and soulmate, Harden “Bert” Spencer. Always a caretaker, Kathy would like all of her loved ones and friends to celebrate her life with laughter and of course food. She would not want anyone to possibly be exposed to the Covid virus so a service will be held at a later date. This is not the end because the love we have for Kathy and the love she has for us is eternal and forever. Till we meet again.
