Magen Harleman Washilewski passed away on October 6, 2025. She was born January 19, 1983 and is the daughter of Michael Harleman and Gwen Harleman.
Magen attended school in the Lake Lehman district and was a member of the Class of 2000. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from King’s College majoring in political science and also attended Widener School of Law.
She served as the executive director of NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) where she developed creative programming and advocated for individuals and their families helping to heighten awareness and reduce stigma of people with mental health concerns.
She continued her advocacy assisting the community with her position at HELPLINE. Magen was a true renaissance woman. She was an accomplished equestrian and her love of nature found her hunting, fishing, camping, biking and kayaking. She especially loved time spent with her two border collies, “the boys” Indy and Mischief.
Magen was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Washilewski; paternal grandparents Ray and Anne Harleman; maternal grandparents William and Bernadine Orloski.
A Mass to celebrate her life will be held Friday, October 17, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Therese Church, Shavertown. Friends may call Friday at the church from 10:00 to 10:30.
