Maryann O'Gorman

Maryann T. Nevadonski O’Gorman, 79, passed away peacefully at Commonwealth Health Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

The youngest daughter of Walter Nevadonski and Mary Micklo Nevadonski, she was born in Luzerne and graduated from Luzerne High School in the class of 1964. Following her marriage to James P. O'Gorman III, she resided in Kingston for the rest of her life and worked in the garment industry for many years.Maryann enjoyed spending time biking, kayaking, and exploring the sights of Pennsylvania with Jim on weekends. 

An active member of Holy Family Parish in Luzerne, she loved volunteering at church functions, serving fruit salad and pastries at breakfasts and salad at the Spaghetti Suppers and, was known for her ready smile.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, James P. O’Gorman III; her parents; brothers, Valaras and John; sisters, Irene Bruno and Marcella (Dolly) Mazaika; and her daughter-in-law, Heather.

She is survived by her son, James IV, her niece and caretaker, Donna Piekanski; nieces, Veronica Kneal and Angela Mazaika; nephew, Thomas Mazaika; cousin, Ann Kay; great-niece, great-nephews and more. She will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends may call Friday from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Ltd., 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Parish. Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Lehman.
