Matthew M. Stouchko, Jr., of Luzerne passed away on Saturday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Plains Township. He was born May 16, 1933 in Wilkes-Barre a son of the late Matthew M. and Della Wishnefski Stouchko.
He attended the Luzerne schools and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He served on the supply ship, USS Amphion from 1951 - 1955. Most recently he was employed for Valley Manufacturing and through the years he worked many jobs. Matt enjoyed gardening, walking his dogs and going to the Mohegan Sun Casino.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Penkala Stouchko in 1999; infant daughter Linda; brother Bernard Stouchko; sisters Lillian Territo and Dolores Stouchko.
The family would like to thank Dr. Colvin and the entire staff of the VA Medical Center Community Living Center for the care that they provided.
Surviving are his children Deborah Shaw and her husband Ronald, Larksville, Michael Stouchko and his wife Sherry, Laurel Run, Judy Kiluk, Luzerne, Rosemary Scholl, Mechanicsburg; grandchildren Kevin Shaw and his wife Erika, Darion Stouchko, Christopher Kiluk. Jeffrey Kiluk and his wife Melissa, Cindy Petit and her husband Drew, Noah Scholl, Jonah Scholl; great grandchildren Everly Shaw, Soren Shaw, Chase Kiluk, Sofia Kiluk; sisters Arlene Savoca and Millie Chalker; nieces, nephews, and his beloved granddogs.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 9.45 a.m. from Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 in Holy Family Parish. Interment with military honors will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Saturday at the funeral home from 9.00 - 9.45 a.m.
