Pam Connor

November 23, 1944 — May 11, 2022

Margaret Pamela Connor Our beloved “Auntie Pam” passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1944 and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a graduate of Abington Heights High School in 1963 and went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Bible Studies from Marywood College. Preceding her in death were her parents Ed and Helen Connor, brother, Jerry Connor, sister Diane Cawley and brother Jack Connor. She is survived by her brother, Edward Connor of Bethesda, Maryland. Pam grew up in the Minooka section of Scranton and moved with her parents to Clarks Green. After getting a job and her own apartment near Camden, New Jersey she developed an interest in poetry. She studied with Nick Virgilio, a well known Haiku poet. Her work was well received and she was included in many publications worldwide. Her book “A Garden of Haiku” complete with watercolor illustrations she created herself was a major accomplishment. Pam doted on her Godchildren, her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other much loved family members. She was Mom to her rescued cats, especially her favorite Sully and donated to many charities. Pam liked Jeopardy and was “Queen of Bible Trivia.” She enjoyed travel, old movies, crossword puzzles, good books, elegant dining, and she had a colorful sense of style. Suffering with Rheumatoid Arthritis since early childhood Pam met her health challenges with strength, grace and a remarkable sense of humor. A sincere thank you to her devoted health care aides Shalynn, Pat, Gail, Alice, and many others through the years who fulfilled her wish to remain in her home. Interment will be in Harleigh Cemetery in Camden, New Jersey in Poet’s Corner in the company of Walt Whitman and her mentor Nick Virgilio. A family celebration will be held at a later date. Auntie Pam will forever be remembered as a true “Sullivan Woman.”
