Paul J. Sheehan, Sr., 75, of Snoqualmie, WA (previously resided in Centreville, MD) passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Born in Kingston, PA, and a native of Luzerne, PA, Paul graduated in 1965 from West Side Central Catholic High School, Kingston.
After graduating from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1969, Paul accepted employment as a Bank Examiner by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation until his retirement in 2003. He then worked several years for the State of Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. He retired from there in 2010.
Active in sports throughout his life, Paul was an avid sports fan. Beginning with Little League Baseball on a team coached by his father, Paul participated in sports through high school and college. He organized a softball team with colleagues from FDIC. Paul was involved with EDRECO in Catonsville, MD during the years his two sons played baseball and soccer.
For ten years, he and friends organized an annual RV trip to South Bend for Notre Dame football games. Paul loved playing golf and participated in clubs on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Paul also volunteered with the Outreach Program while a parishioner of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Centreville, MD. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, John J. Raskob Council #14189.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Lillian Diamonds Sheehan; his loving sons Paul Sheehan, Jr., and Brian Sheehan (Jessica Potts); and his beloved granddaughter, Megan Leigh Sheehan. He is also survived by his uncle, Joseph Petrasek, Sr., sisters-in-law Marion Novick and Aldona Oblick, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Francis Sheehan and Dorothy Petrasek Sheehan, and his daughter-in-law, Kristen Mahaffy Sheehan. He leaves behind many lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation to be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26 and 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, April 27 at the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne. Paul’s Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 27 at 10:15 a.m. in Holy Family Church on Bennett Street, Luzerne. Internment will follow at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Pringle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Paul Joseph Sheehan Scholarship Fund” sent to: Frederick Pettit, Director, Institutional Advancement, King’s College, 133 No. River Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711.
