Robert C. Swartz

Robert Calvin Swartz 95, formerly of Luzerne, passed away at home in Avoca Saturday May 4, 2024.

Born in Snow Shoe, PA, he was the eldest son of the late James and Carrie Swartz. He enlisted into the United States

Army in 1946 and was Honorably discharged in 1950. Prior to his retirement he worked for the Pennsylvania Department of

Corrections at SCI- Rockview and SCI-Dallas as a corrections officer then as a union laborer for Rex Craft Construction of

Avoca, and retired from Luzerne Bank as a maintenance man.

He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Bob, affectionately known as “Pop”, loved spending time with his family, friends, neighbors, family pets Boots and Indy. His favorite past time was spending time at his hunting cabin, Camp Krotchkey in Snow Shoe, PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Swartz in February 24, 2017, and siblings, Lois Fanning, James Swartz,

Ronald Swartz, Mary McKean, Beverly Swartz and Kenneth Swartz.

He is survived by brother David O. Swartz of Snow Shoe, children, Linda (Tina) Ziegenfus and husband Gary, Luzerne,

Nadian (Dede) Swartz, Luzerne, Robert K. Swartz and wife Barbara, Dallas, David J. Swartz and wife Melissa, Avoca;

grandchildren Kelly Brown, Beth Ziegenfus, Megan Ziegenfus, Jennifer Stokes, Holly Swartz, Robert E. Swartz

and companion Caitlin Kalnins, and Sara Swartz; great grandchildren, Dylan Brown, Carson Brown, Ryan Stokes

and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 9.30 a.m. Tuesday from Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Ltd., 568 Bennett St. Luzerne, with

a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Parish Luzerne with the Rev. Phil Sladicka officiating.

Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Luzerne County S.P.C.A.
