Vincent C. Burakiewicz

Vincent C. Burakiewicz, 71, of Trucksville, passed away on November 19, 2021 in Naperville, Illinois. He was born September 2, 1950 in Swoyersville, son of the late Stanley and Josephine Burakiewicz. He was a graduate of West Side Central Catholic, a Navy veteran and a member of the Swoyersville American Legion Post #644. He was employed at Altec Industries, Wilkes-Barre where he began his career with Sterling Industries as a service mechanic and certified welder. His years of work repairing and building Altec equipment allowed him to transition to the service department which he retired from as a Support Services Supervisor after more then 40 years of service. Vince enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren located in Maryland and Illinois. He frequented local train shops, meticulously matted stamps and coins as well as built numerous model naval ships. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening, Nascar, country music, The Birds and The Beach Boys. His extensive knowledge made him a sure win at all trivia games. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Stanko Burakiewicz, mother in law Lena Stanko and brother in law Michael John Stanko, Sr. Surviving are his children, Janel Yaun and her husband Keith, Vincent M. Burakiewicz and his wife Maria, Santina Burakiewicz-Carlson and her husband Paul; grandchildren, Antersa, Reed, Vincent G., Christian, Sophie, Olive; niece Trisha Wildey, nephew Michael J. Stanko, Jr. and several great nephews and niece. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 - 10:30 at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne. Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
