William J. Gunshore, 90, of Luzerne passed away peacefully Wednesday evening at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, the son of Frank and Mary (Gaduski) Gunshore. He attended St. Michael’s School in Hoban Heights where he excelled in both academics and sports.
During his life Bill was employed by Nelson’s Furniture, Kingston. He was a volunteer fireman with the Luzerne Fire Department. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Assumpta Council, Luzerne, spending many hours in the kitchen of the catering hall.
In later years he filled his days working crossword puzzles, keeping watch over the neighborhood from his porch and watching football. He was a diehard Steelers fan. His family was his pride and joy. Bill and his wife Emily’s main focus in life was to protect and provide for their four children.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Emily (Dermako) Gunshore and his 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
Surviving are his children, daughter Maria and husband David Lukashewski, Nanticoke; daughter Carolyn and husband Joseph Rambo, Luzerne; son John Gunshore, Luzerne; son Paul Gunshore and wife Angela; grandchildren Marianna, Regina and Annaliese.
The funeral will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. from Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Ltd., 568 Bennett Street, Luzerne with a Funeral Mass at 10:15 in Holy Family Parish. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Sunday from 5 - 8 p.m.
