Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home has been serving Luzerne area families for over one hundred years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.

A Brief History from 1907 to the Present

In 1907 Charles Betz started the funeral home at its present location with the support of his wife, Stella. This was at a time when funerals were held in the family home and automobiles were a rare sight. They were later joined in business by their sons, Charles and Joseph Betz. Joseph and his wife, Mary carried on the family legacy of serving people with respect and care.

Mrs. Mary Betz continued to operate the funeral home after the death of Joseph Betz in 1978. Mrs. Betz chose Robert Jastremski to assist her and allow her to continue the Betz family legacy. In 1998 Robert purchased the Betz Funeral Home and renamed it the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Inc.

Under Robert’s ownership, the funeral home was remodeled and includes an atmosphere designed to make people feel comfortable and welcome. The building is also completely handicapped accessible.

Robert Jastremski served the families of Luzerne and the surrounding areas for almost forty years and recently retired from funeral service to spend more time with his family. He remains available to assist families as needed.

In the fall of 2019 the ownership of the funeral home was transferred to Ted Collins, who is a fourth generation funeral director. The Collins family has been involved in funeral service since the early 1900's and operates several funeral homes in the Wyoming Valley.

The Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home, Ltd. will continue to serve families of all faiths with dignity and reverence upholding the traditions established in the past.
